Why Sloth Straws Are the Perfect DIY for Your Party

Planning a sloth-themed party? Then these DIY straws are exactly what you need for your buffet table. The little sloths hang lazily on your straws, turning simple drinks into eye-catching highlights. It’s a fun and budget-friendly craft that brings instant joy and Instagram-worthy vibes to your celebration.

I still remember the first time I made these for my nephew’s birthday. The kids squealed with excitement as they picked their “sloth buddy” for their drinks. Even the adults couldn’t help but smile. Sometimes it’s these little details that turn an ordinary party into a magical memory.

What You’ll Need for your DIY Straws

  • Colorful paper straws (eco-friendly paper straws look cute and reduce plastic waste)
  • Scissors
  • Glue (liquid or glue stick)
  • Sloth designs (use our printable sloth template—or design your own!)
  • DIN A4 paper (regular 80 g/m² printer paper is fine; we love using recycled paper—it makes the colors softer but saves the planet 🌍)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Print or Draw Your Sloth: Use our sloth template (about 10 cm wide when unfolded) or create your own design by hand or with a program like Photoshop.
  2. Cut Carefully: Trim around the sloths slowly, leaving clean edges for a polished look.
  3. Shape the Sloth: Gently fold the cutout to pre-form the curve that will hug the straw.
  4. Add Glue: Apply a small amount of glue on the back of the sloth.
  5. Attach: Place the sloth on the upper third of your straw, press gently, and let it dry.
  6. And just like that—you have your very own sloth party straws!

Extra Tips

  • Decor combos: Match your sloth straws with palm-leaf plates and green napkins for a jungle vibe.
  • Drinks that fit: Tropical juices or iced teas make the sloths look even more playful.
  • Storage: Craft them the day before and store in a glass so they don’t bend.
